Famous Last Words: Senior Year is Rough

Image
I feel like I have been playing catch up this entire semester. I am constantly busy with gigantic mountains of homework, laundry, social events, and making my weekly quota of internship hours. This is my final year of my undergraduate coursework and I really think that has a lot to do with my stress. I know that I am going to have to be a “real adult” in a few months and I think that is negatively effecting my drive to do my schoolwork. I am so focused on getting ready for the real world that I do not feel that it is very important to complete my assignments because they seem so meaningless in comparison to finding a job and getting insurance quotes. I do feel like I can fix this. Personally, I am a Christian and I believe in Jesus Christ. As a Christian, I am called to daily lean on Jesus and give him all my cares and worries to take care of. As of late, I have not been doing this as well as I should have. When I do give all of my problems to Jesus, everything seems to go well an...

Reading Notes: Part A of CA Kincaid's Mahabharata

Image
These are reading notes for Part A of  The Mahabharata by C. A. Kincaid. -This talks about the 100 sons and the 5 Pandava brothers -They are all dependents of a king -The Pandavas were good students and the 100 sons were jealous -Talks about the Pandavas escaping the big fire by tunneling -The evil guy is very happy because he thinks the Pandavas perished, but it was really the low caste people who were drunk.            -This is the evil plot of someone who just seems jealous of the Pandavas -A daughter must marry all 5 Pandava sons, there are 5 weddings. -In these stories there are a lot of competition and jealousy. - I will rewrite this with the characters constantly competing and being mischievous. The Forest being Burned

Reading Notes: Mourning

Image
Reading Notes for Mourning , which I found on PDE Mahabharata -A person on the battlefield has just lost 100 sons -A lot of people were mourning the lost lives of their family members. -Kunti's 5 sons were still alive, but they mourned the dead together -The dead were prepared for burial with perfumed linen and then burned -New people were brought in to be rulers -I would like to rewrite this story to go on my website, but I am having trouble thinking of a way that I could use the humor from Friends and still pay due respect to the Mahabharata.                                                                Mourning of the Dead

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

Image
Feedback I feel like in this class it could be really easy to feel like the work that we do is insignificant and that it does not matter; the comment portion of the class really does help to eliminate these thoughts. I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to receive positive feedback and constructive criticism from my peers because it makes me feel like other people really do care about what I am doing and what I like to write about.  Giving other feedback on their work has definitely been a challenge for me, because I want to make sure that what I am saying comes across in a kind, but also helpful way. Something I have tried to dow when writing comments is staying focused on the writer and the piece that they are writing rather than myself. This tip really has helped me a lot.  Recently, I have noticed more and more peers giving me and others feedback on things like sentence structure and grammar and I think that this is something that I could do more of moving...

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Image
Looking Back Over the course of the last seven weeks, I have honestly felt like this class was a whirlwind and I really didn't even understand where all the work I was doing was going or how I would ever pull it all together in order to make a project. Just recently, all of this doubt changed! I wrote the second story that I will include in my project and I feel so good about it. For my project I am doing a friends theme and writing stories that I can relate to the Friends television show makes me feel so good. I think that writing about something I love so much really does make me a better writer and I enjoy it so much more. Another thing that I have discovered is that I write so much better in the morning that I do at night. I know that is sort of weird, but it really is just my preference! All in all, now that my project is coming together I really do enjoy this class because it gives me the opportunity to express myself in a way that I never have before. Looking Forwar...
