The Jealous Student There she sat, trying and working hard to finish all of the projects that she had to turn in this week. She sees all of her friends who did not go to college out having fun and making money. Her friends always had the means to go and do fun things whenever they wanted and they never had to stay home and work on projects or assignments. “Oh, well.” She thought to herself and she began yet another 10-page assignment and texted her friends that she would not be able to go to the movies with them this Friday night. It isn’t that she doesn’t want to go, she just literally does not have the time to go and do things like they do. Later that evening she called her mother and told her how jealous she is and tells her mom that she just wishes she could have all of the time and money that her friends do. Reading Notes: The Ox Who Envied the Pig -There were two ox who were brothers and they worked on a farm -On the farm, the daughter was about to get married, and the family made plans to fatten the pig for the wedding feast -The big brother ox was upset and felt slighted because the pig ate all of the good food while he and his brother ate only straw -The older pig was also mad because the pig was lazy and they did all the work -The younger brother reminded his older brother that he should not be jealous because the pig was being fattened for slaughter -Not to much later, the pig was killed -The moral of the story is that indulgence can lead to the path of death. After the night when they set up the area so that she could meet her deadline, she had been spending a lot of her time outside, on the terrace, writing. Julia still loved writing in the cozy coffee shop, so she has been splitting her time between the two places. Today Julia came up to the terrace to blow off some steam. She feels angrier that she has felt since she moved to New York City. The new editor at her office has been taking credit for the work that the authors are actually doing. Julia and the other authors are now looking like they are lazy and not meeting their deadlines. Today Julia had finally had enough. Avenging His Friends Reading Notes: The Crab and The Crane -There was a summer when there was no rain and little water -The animals all suffered -The fish in a pond had very little water and the crane sat and watched them -The crane told the fishes about a pond in the forest that he knew had a lot of water in it -The fishes did not trust him, so they sent one fish with him to check out the pond -They went back and the fish told all the other fish about the pond and they all agreed to go one by one. -The crane began taking them one by one, but he broke their trust and ate each fish one by one -He went back to see if there were any fish, but there was only a crab left -The crane wanted to take the crab as he did the fish, so the crab went, bu the crab was afraid of falling, so he used is claws to hold onto the crane's neck -The crane asked the crab to get off in the place where he had eaten the fish, but the crab snapped his neck before he could eat him.

Babbitt -An old woman was gifted at elephant -The elephant was named "Grannie's Blackie" -The elephant always played with all of the kids, but never worked -Blackie wanted Grannie to come play, but she had to work -Blackie thought it would be a good idea for him to work too -Blackie found a job down at the river helping pull carts -The man tried to underpay Blackie, but he would not leave without proper pay -Blackie returned home with the money and Grannie was very pleased                                                       The Playful Elephant Named Blackie
