Feedback Strategies

Image
Be a Mirror  and Criticizing Praise I believe that the act of giving feedback and the manner that we do it in is a very important quality to for people to have. This concept can seriously affect people and can either seriously help or hurt their confidence. In this class especially, I believe that it is essential for us to be kind and thoughtful with our feedback because we are in such a public sphere. Each of these articles on criticism gave great insight. Most of all, I like how Be a Mirror  talked about taking yourself out of the comment by avoiding using "I liked" or "I think" when giving feedback to a peer. In Criticizing Praise, I learned that praise is a tricky thing and eventually it can be seen as conditional and people may think that they have to do things a certain way to earn love and affection rather than just feeling loved and adored all of the time.  These are all importa...

Possible Stories: 1. The Hare That Was Not Afraid to Die -In this story, the hare seems very wise and not too worried about anything.  -He is willing to give himself up in order to help others. 2. The Foolish, Timid Rabbit -The rabbit caused others to panic when there was really nothing going on. -The rabbit should have checked his source before scaring everyone.  3. The Hare That Ran Away -This story is almost identical to The Foolish, Timid Rabbit .  -Buddha is reborn and plays the Lion in this story -The Hare is comforted by the Lion                                         The Hare and Other Animals Who Were Afraid

Week 3 Story

The Sandals Portfolio: Bay's Stories Author's Note: This story is my own work based off of a story by PDE Ramayana It was a day just like any other day and Ben was walking home from school all alone. Today was just another mediocre day at school and he thought to himself about how much he wished today were Friday and he did not have to return back to school. Ben despised school. No one there liked him and the other students took every opportunity that they had to make fun of him, call him names, and bully him in every way possible. Oh well, he though, today was Wednesday so that means only two more days of school for this week and then he could stay at home with his mom, watch movies, and just relax without the fear of being demeaned and made fun of in front of the entire Brookside Middle School. The next morning at school, things went just as Ben had anticipates. Carl Wen knocked him into the lockers and Ben's books scattered all across the hall. Just as he finally m...

Reading Notes: The Sandals

Image
Reading Notes: The Sandals by PDE Ramayana -The sandals must have been a great honor -Rama's brother had a lot of respect for him -The sandals were a symbol of royal authority -What do we have in today's age that are similar to these sandals? -A modern day equivalent to this would be set up a lot differently, but could still happen -I would like to rewrite this story so that I could show that although this is a very old story, something similar to this could happen today, such as the president or anyone of power bestowing a coveted gift on someone.                                   These are the characters of the story with the Golden Sandals

Reading Notes: Crossing the River

Image
Reading Notes for Crossing the River    by PDE Ramayana The image above displays the life these people lived "On the River" and within the trees and other greenery. -Why are they in exile? -They all seem to be very sad to be leaving their home -Will everything go back to normal after the 14 years? -Are all of these people brothers? -They are comforting one another because they are far from home. -No one seems very happy about this. -Everyone seems to be helping them even though they are being sent into exile. -In the end they say that they can no longer live life like this, but they just resort to comforting one another. -I wonder if they will enjoy their time or if they will long to be home and have quarrels among them -I would like to rewrite this so that I could give more detail and life to these characters and thicken both the plot and storyline.
