It was a day just like any other day and Ben was walking home from school all alone. Today was just another mediocre day at school and he thought to himself about how much he wished today were Friday and he did not have to return back to school. Ben despised school. No one there liked him and the other students took every opportunity that they had to make fun of him, call him names, and bully him in every way possible. Oh well, he though, today was Wednesday so that means only two more days of school for this week and then he could stay at home with his mom, watch movies, and just relax without the fear of being demeaned and made fun of in front of the entire Brookside Middle School.
The next morning at school, things went just as Ben had anticipates. Carl Wen knocked him into the lockers and Ben's books scattered all across the hall. Just as he finally made it into Homeroom, Jessica Maynard told him that he'd never find a girl to like him if he kept wearing his baggy clothes and glasses. Ben shrugged this comment off like he has to do with pretty much everything else. Just as Ben was returning to his "school slump" as he had called it, Principal Williams entered his classroom and asked him to gather his things and come with her. Ben wondered what could have happen in order for him to have to go to her office.
Come in, Ben, have a seat right here, said Principal Williams. As Ben started to ask what he had done, she began telling him that she and other teachers have noticed what is going on with him and the other students. She mentioned that although this may be awful and feel so unfair, that this will pass and with time, things will get better. She then mentioned that she needed his help and that he was the only one who could get the job done. Principal Williams noted that she had been working on a few community service projects within the school and she would like to give Ben the title of Community Service Director. She said that these projects would take place of his homeroom class and that she was so thankful that with his new title he would be able to help so much.
As Community Service Director, Ben did a lot of good things for the school and it was all because of Principal Williams and his new job.

Great story Bailey! I liked your story because it was somewhat relatable. I don't know anyone who hasn't had days where they didn't like school. I think you did a great job of describing how the emotions in the story. I also like how the Principal was there for him because I feel we all had a person at the school who looked after us as well.
ReplyDeleteHey Bailey!
ReplyDeleteLoved your story! The meaning behind your story is significant and I loved the modern take on it. There are numerous students out there that probably have gone through some of the things you had mentioned above. The wisdom and understanding that is in your story is quite profound and that makes this story so much better. Great job and happy blogging!
