Feedback Thoughts
I read about The Psychology of Comparison and How to Stop and Five Steps for Taking Feedback Like a Champ. In both of these articles, the main theme was that everyone feels the pressure of trying to stand up to other people's work and how important it is to stay true to yourself.
I learned that although you may be on an uncomfortable platform, it is important to keep doing your absolute best. I also learned that it is important to not compare yourself or your work to anyone else. I definitely think that college is a difficult place to stay away from the trap of comparison, but I do believe that it is important to try our best in order benefit ourselves.
I also think that because of the way that we are utilizing feedback in this class, it is also important to remember these things when we are giving feedback to people and that we should keep their feelings in mind as well as we choose our words.

Feedback can be really tough to receive sometimes but for me it’s even harder to GIVE! I am always afraid that I will say the wrong thing or someone will be hurt. This class has actually been really helpful for me with that. Just practicing made it easier.
ReplyDeleteIt can be really hard not to compare yourself to others, I agree. You see them just nailing it and being successful and it can feel so shameful when you don’t meet those same standards...but what you can’t see is the times they fail or the times when you actually surpass them in other areas.
