Reading Notes: The Foolish, Timid Rabbit
-Similar to Chicken Little
-There are a lot of different animals in this story. This makes me think about how one person that has a crazy idea or even a piece of gossip can influence a whole crowd of people.
-As I read this story, I really keep going back to gossip. I assume that all of these animals were not friends, but they all ended up hearing about the Earth breaking up and this affected each of them. This is just like gossip. You may only tell your best friend about some juicy tidbit that you heard, but then she can go tell another friend, and that friend could tell two people and so on and so forth.
-Sometimes we take what we perceive to be happening as fact rather than trying to find out what really happened
-This shows me that we should always assess the situation before reacting and letting something small get out of hand.
-What if the Monkeys in the story were looking to make the rabbit uneasy. What if they wanted to cause unrest among all the other animals and strike fear into their hearts.
-What if the Lion went along with all of the other animals and everyone turned to mass panic
-I think there should have been some sort of lesson taught at the end to show us why we cannot fail to assess every situation before turning to panic.
