The Guadalupe River: My Favorite Place

Hello, my name is Bailey DeFilippo and one of my favorite places to visit has always been the Guadalupe River in Central/Southern Texas. I like this place because it is laid back and relaxing. When I go with my family, we normally choose one day to relax at the house and swim in the river and we choose one day for our float day. On our float day we spend 5-7 hours literally floating down the river in huge inner tubes. We bring drinks, snacks, a bluetooth speaker, and different water games to play. We spend the day fellowshipping with one another and having a lot of fun in the sun.

This place is so beautiful and relaxing.

  1. Oh, we went there when I was a kid, Bailey: I had not thought about the Guadalupe River in ages, though... but seeing your post brought that back. Tubing! Yes!

As you can guess, rivers are incredibly important in the Indian tradition; the Ganges is a goddess, Ganga, who is even a character in the epics we will be reading. Maybe you will want to investigate river stories for the class; here is Ganga riding on her makara (a kind of mythical crocodile): Makara of the goddess Ganga

For the links, it's important to create actual link text instead of just pasting in a confusing URL; there's a note about how to do the links in Blogger here: Links in Blogger ... so that would be:

  2. Hi again! Wow! That picture is so beautiful. I am from Oklahoma, so I have never been there, but it looks gorgeous. I love floating the river in the summer, unfortunately it is not something I get to do often, but when I do, I definitely enjoy it. When I am not busy in the summer, I typically spend my time at my grandparents lake house, so that is the extent to my water activities for the summer, but floating the river is something I wish I was able to do more. Beautiful place and great post!

  3. Hello again! Wow, I have never heard of the Guadalupe River but it looks extremely beautiful and tranquil. Do you and your family visit the Guadalupe River a lot? How far is the river from Norman? When did you start visiting the river? Spending 5-7 hours on the river sounds exciting and peaceful. This sounds like a great and wonderful family bonding time!
