Week 5 Storytelling: Rama Crowned King
Author's Note: This story was originally written about Rama and how after long years of disparity, he finally ascended to his father's throne and made the people very happy. I got this story from PDE Ramayana.
To Keep a Fun Land
There once was a
country that was flourishing with love, businesses, friendship, and it had
everything anyone could ever imagine. It was a happy place, with happy people,
and a happy ruler. This ruler did everything for his people and loved to seem
them happy. He was always hosting parties and festivals so that everyone could
be together and celebrate their happiness and their love for one another. This
had gone on for generations and it was all anyone knew. They were used to all
getting along with one another and always being there to help one another. The
newest king was the last male in the family and therefore there was no other
heir to replace him when and if he died. The young king did not see this as a
huge issue because of his age, but nonetheless, he knew he needed to find a
wife. The task of finding a wife proved to be more difficult than he had
originally thought. The townspeople began to worry that he would die alone and
that would be the end of all of the fun that they had as citizens of this small
country.
One day the king
planned to host a massive festival, one that would put all of their past
festivals to shame. The king knew that this had to be where he met his future
bride so that he could calm bith his fears and the fears of his people. He
invited maidens from all of the surrounding countries to their festival in
hopes that one of them would want to join him in being ruler of his country.
Throughout the evening he went on walks through the palace gardens with many women,
but no one that he felt was just right for him. As the evening was beginning to
wind down, he realized that there was one more maiden that he had not yet
spoken with. She seemed young, but very outgoing. He realized that the reason
he had not yet noticed her was because she had been talking and enjoying the
evening with the townspeople rather than sitting and waiting for him—he very much liked this. She
was tall and naturally beautiful with long red hair. Before even approaching
her, he knew that this woman would one day be his wife. He approached her and asked her to dance and as they danced, they flowed perfectly together and had the best conversations. Late into the evening he asked her to marry him as they sat in his lily garden.
The next day when the news broke, the townspeople rejoiced and shouted in praise that their fun-loving kingdom would live on.
Hi Bailey. I see you love a cheesy story. I found your story cute. It is not the most original thing, but it is still enjoyable. The story would have been a little better if you had added another hundred works or so about his life after his marriage. I look forward to reading more of your work this semester.
ReplyDeleteHey Bailey! This story is great because it is simple yet it creates the entire view perfect. I like how it is predictable but sometimes with a happy story like this it is alright. I think that you could possibly add more details about the characters but also see where that isn't crucial for this style. Maybe you could enlarge your image a bit more because it is a tad small!
ReplyDeleteHi Bailey! I really enjoyed this story!! I was sweet and to the point. I also love your description of how she was happy talking to her peers rather than fighting for this ruler. I would have liked to read more about your through process in writing this, though. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Bailey! I like how you start with the authors note it. It helps to set the tone for the story and lets people know what they are getting into. Your writing style is kind of fairy tale like and I think it adds a different flair to the story. I think the picture could be a little bigger because it is kind of hard to see as it is now.
